The street rate, explained straight

Nigeria runs on two exchange rates. The official one lives in press releases. The street rate is what you actually get when you need dollars today, and USDT has quietly become the easiest way to hold and move those dollars. That is why over twenty million Nigerians use crypto, and why the USDT price on P2P markets tracks the true value of the naira better than any bank board.

StreetNaira reads the live P2P boards on Bybit, OKX and Bitget and the instant rates on Quidax and Luno every minute, then lines them up so you can sell where the price is best. A difference of ₦10 per USDT on a $500 trade is ₦5,000 left on the table. Checking takes ten seconds.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions Nigerians ask us

What is the USDT to naira rate today?

The live rate is shown at the top of this page and refreshes every minute, pulled directly from Bybit, OKX, Bitget, Quidax and Luno. The best selling rate is highlighted so you always see where your USDT is worth the most naira right now.

Why is the street rate higher than the official rate?

The official rate is what banks and the CBN quote, but dollars are hard to get at that price. The street rate, which P2P markets reflect, is what people actually pay for dollars in Nigeria. USDT trades at the street rate because it is the easiest dollar to actually buy.

Where can I sell USDT at the best rate in Nigeria?

It changes hour to hour. Bybit usually has the deepest P2P market since Binance stepped back from naira, but OKX and Bitget merchants often outbid it. Quidax and Luno give instant rates with direct bank withdrawal. Our comparison shows all of them side by side, live.

Is P2P trading safe?

On the big exchanges the USDT sits in escrow until you confirm the naira arrived in your bank account, so the merchant cannot take your crypto and run. The golden rules: never release before the money is in YOUR account, ignore anyone who asks to chat outside the app, and start with a small trade with any new merchant.

How often do these rates update?

Every minute. We read the live order books and P2P boards directly from each exchange. The time shown next to the rates tells you exactly how fresh they are.

Stay sharp: only trade on the exchange itself, never release USDT before the naira lands in your own account, and never move a deal to WhatsApp. Rates shown here are live market data, not financial advice.
